BedsWhile it often may not seem the case - what with juggling our hectic schedules between our careers, our children and attempting to squeeze in a social life - we spend around a third of our lives in the bedroom. If this is indeed the case then surely there can be no more important piece of furniture in our homes than our beds. Finding the right bed to suit you is one of the most important decisions you'll face in furnishing your home. It won't be an easy decision to make, either. While a bed may simply be a place to rest our head at the end of a long day, there are endless options available to suit our needs. These range all the way from beautiful, classical four poster beds and canopy beds to retro water beds, orthopedic adjustable beds and every point in between. To narrow your choices down to the simplest level there are really two basic factors to consider when choosing a bed: style and utility. If you're selecting a bed for an adult's bedroom you'll most likely base your decision on style. Your options range from the ornate four poster bed all the way down to simple, basic platform beds or futons. Your choice in this respect will be based on the décor of your bedroom. A platform bed would be ideal for a room decorated in a simple minimalist style, while a more ornately decorated room would be perfect for a four poster. Between those two extremes you could opt for a rustic log bed, built from attractive and durable hardwoods such as aspen, or any number of metal beds framed in brass. or perhaps even an iron bed. When buying a bed for a child's room or a guest space you may be more concerned with utility. For sheer space saving benefits it would be difficult to beat a foldaway murphy bed or loft bed allowing you to free up essential floor space when it isn't needed. However, this isn't your only option. By selecting a bunk bed or trundle bed you can fit two beds into the space of one, again freeing valuable floor space, or even a sofa bed that becomes a sofa during the day - an ideal solution if you want to make a den double as an occasional guest bedroom. Kids beds often have an element of fun built into them, and may be made in the shape of a car or castle. Finally, you could opt for the space saving benefits of the captain's bed. Based on the classic design used on ships - where space is at a premium - the captain's bed offers valuable storage space under the frame of the bed, ideal for storing children's toys or any number of other items. Whatever your tastes, and whatever your requirements, you're sure to find a bed that suits you down to the ground, allowing you to rest easy - literally.
